Town of Centreville-Wareham-Trinity

PO Box 130, Centreville, NL A0G 4P0

After discussions with the Water Resources Management Division at Municipal Affairs and Environment, we have received the following response regarding our water source from the Northwest Pond:

"Thank you for all the information that was sent to us.

After some discussion we have determined that the “algae” on the screens is actual the result of biofouling.  With the prolonged and cold winter, the resulting long ice cover of your water supply has probably created an anaerobic environment.  This creates extra “sludge” to be created within the water column, and the blocked up screens are the result.   Once the ice cover begins to recede, the pond will start to aerate and you’ll start to see the screens starting to clear up."

This is to advise all residents/businesses that the Town of Centreville-Wareham-Trinity will be flushing water lines during the night (starting at 10:00 p.m.) on the date listed below:

April 11, 2019

During this time, residents/businesses may experience dirty water, low water pressure and no water at times.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
